The Edberg Foundation annually awards a stipend and environmental award to one person who, through personal commitment, has worked for sustainable development in the spirit of global solidarity.
Through these awards, the Edberg Foundation has aimed to emphasize the importance of the Think Global, Act Local mentality. The award recipients are truly role models; they are often young individuals who through actions encourage others to react, and to act. They often work under dire circumstances, in countries where openness and democracy have not been a given.
The award has enabled many of the recipients to get a higher education in other countries than their own, which in turn has provided valuable international contacts to support the continued efforts in their home countries.
