Rolf Edberg (1912-1997) was one of the most important authors, intellectual advocates and environmental activists of our time. As an author, Rolf Edberg was Sweden’s foremost and most eloquent promoter of an eco-philosophical attitude toward nature and toward our fellow human beings.
His last days were spent writing his final book, “Så länge skogen växer”, of which the closing chapter was left unfinished. With this piece of work, Rolf Edberg continued his struggle for the forests of the world.
Edberg’s authorship started back in 1939 with the book “Ge dem en chans” which, among other things, addressed youth unemployment. His breakthrough came in the 1960′s with the book “Spillran av ett moln” (“On the Shred of a Cloud -A Wanderer’s Musings Before the Fall”), the first in a renowned trilogy concerning the responsibility of human beings to live according to the rules of the earth. The two sequels in the trilogy are “Brev till Columbus” (“Letters to Columbus”) and “Vid trädets fot” (“At the Foot of the Tree”).
Edberg published over 40 books and other works over the years, as well as an immense amount of articles and chronicles in magazines and newspapers. His books can be found in almost every Swedish library.
